Turbonegro@ Stahlwerk, Dusseldorf 20.11.1998. Special guest Nashville Pussy

General: In 1998 Turbonegro were in many ways on top of their game, and at the same time on their way down the drain. Drugs and alchohol were taking its toll on frontman Hank Von Helvete, and combined with his mental health issues it was pure dynamite about to blow.

Show info: This night in Germany was the very start (2nd show) of the last tour with Turbonegro, and on the 30th November (10 days and 10 shows later) the Frontman was submitted to the psychiatric ward in Milan, Italy. Of course, the rest of the shows on this tour were cancelled. Turbonegro on top of their game musically these years, with their 3-part Apocalypse Dudes albums opening new doors for the denim demons of the north.

Ticket info: This 19 year old ticket is in excellent condition. I bought it from the original owner in Dusseldorf, and I can safely say it’s well taken care of!

What is it worth?: I do not know, but not very much I guess. To any Turbojugend going to the show it could be a nice memory of course, other than that it has value as a very cool piece of memorabilia that is tangible evidence of an era of Turbonegros career they can never top.

Venue info and tour poster: The old steel mill of Mannesmannröhren-Werkes in Dusseldorf has been made into a concert venue and a restaurant cluster. Since 1993 it has hosted all kinds of artists and it still does. The arena was only 5 years old when Turbonegro came to town, filling up the 750 person capacity of the main hall. THis image is not from the gig, but shows some of the chaos that followed just after the gig. See also the video below, this is a pretty drugged and drunk buch of guys…
